Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and love for one another as the country battles economic challenges. Obi made the call in his Christmas Day message to Nigerians.

Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25. Christ is believed to have been born through divine instrumentation for the salvation of mankind.

In a statement via his X handle, Obi urged Nigerians to reflect on the true spirit of Christmas, which is a season of love, peace, and kindness, stressing the need to imbibe such values in dealing with the nation’s “many unprecedented challenges.”

He remarked that in the midst of many challenges plaguing the country, the season of Christmas reminds that “even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for a new dawn.”

“At such times as this, we must, therefore, in the spirit of love, prioritise the well-being of one another, help the poor, feed the hungry, and show love to everyone,” Obi admonished.

He urged the people to renew their spirit of unity, eschew all forms of tribal and religious divisions that have always separated them as a people, and pray to God “even as we all continue to work together for a better nation.”
