Friends and well-wishers of award winning author and activist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, have hit cloud nine, after she revealed  that she welcomed twin boys in April last year.

Adichie, who is 47, made the revelation in an interview with The Guardian UK at the weekend, adding that the family kept the bundle of joy secret to “protect” them.

Another reason for refusing to dish out the good news 10 months down the line according to the author of award winning novels like ‘Half of a yellow moon, Purple Hibiscus and ‘We should all be feminists’ among others, is escape  Nigerians’ curiosity about people’s lives.

“I want to protect my children. I’m okay with having them mentioned, but I don’t want the piece to become about them,” she said.

“So, here is the thing, Nigerians are nosy. They want to know about your personal life. Because of that, I am resistant. I very rarely talk about it.”

Despite the covert approach before now, Nigerians have taken to social media to react over the news, with many congratulating her for the blessing.

They have also included her in the league of women who had twins and upgraded her to Mama Ejima, like other mothers of twin babies. Some say it is an indication that the so called biological clock only exists in the minds of those who dwell on it.

@Chinwenwa wrote: “Chimamanda at 47 having twin boys?? Is not the story I thought I would wake up to. I am so happy for her. I hope women won’t to be too pressured to settle because of biological clock.Congratulations Odeluwa.”

A surprised Jackie @JWEZEE said Whaat! Chimamanda welcomed twin boys. I’m so happy for her ❤️❤️ Mama Ejima.

Wẹyimi B. Lubẹ ]@_weyimi wrote “Chimamanda having twins, and keeping their existence sacred and not secret for almost a year is something I appreciate.”

While fans and well-wishers of the renowned author continue to bask in euphoria of the new revelation, she is reportedly set to dish out another master piece, Dream Count.
