Chelsea, Barcelona Set To Hold Further Talks On Aubameyang

Memphis Depay's move to Juventus under threat over contract termination
August 25, 2022

Chelsea and Barcelona will be in contact again through intermidiaries today (Thursday, August 25) in order to reach an agreement for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The former Arsenal striker could be making a return to the English Premier League to join the Blues who are without a recognized striker since the loan departure of Romelu Lukaku.

Barcelona are weighing up the possibility of selling either or both Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay.

An acceleration of talks between Chelsea and Barcelona was expected in the past one week but it has somewhat slowed down.

However with the transfer window shutting down in the next seven days, a breakthrough in the negotiations could be on the cards with Aubameyang reuniting with manager Thomas Tuchel whom he worked with at Borrusia Dortmund.

Aubameyang walked around the stadium and waved at the Barcelona fans after the friendly game against Manchester City on Wednesday night – with the gesture considered by many as a sign of an impending move.

The former Gabon international also scored in the game which was geared towards raising money for charity.

As for Depay, he will only sign contract termination at Barcelona when he finds a new club with his anticipated move to Juventus at the brink of collapse unless the situation at Barcelona is sorted out in the next few hours.
