Chellaram Leads Losers, BUA Foods Tops Gainers’ List Amid N187.69 billion Gain

The stock market’s total equity capitalisation closed at N28.10 trillion on Tuesday after the capital market shutdown to celebrate the New Year public holiday on Monday.

Following trading on Tuesday, the market capitalisation appreciated by 0.6 per cent or N187.69 billion from last week Friday’s N27.91 trillion. 

The All Share Index followed suit, increasing by 344.6 basis points to 51,595.66 ASI, from the previous trading session’s 51,251.06 ASI.

Over 321.67 million shares were exchanged in 4,122 deals on Tuesday, worth N4.34 billion. This is in contrast to the N7.35 billion traded last week Friday to exchange 890.68 million shares in 3,566 deals. 

Top five gainers

BUA Foods share appreciated by N6.50kobo to rise from N65 to N71.50kobo per share  

John Holt grew by 9.59 per cent, up from N0.73kobo to N0.80kobo per share  

Prestige ended trading with N0.46kobo from N0.42kobo per share, rising by 9.52 per cent. 

Nahco gained N0.60kobo to end trading at N7, having opened with N6.40kobo 

UBA stock was up by N0.70kobo, closing with N8.30kobo from N7.60kobo per share 

Top five losers

Chellaram depreciated by N0.22kobo, dwindling from N2.24kobo to N2.02 per share. 

CWG also fell by 8.91 per cent to end trading at N0.92kobo, after opening with N1.01 per share. 

FCMB followed the same path, losing N0.34kobo after trading hours, to sell at N3.51kobo from N3.85kobo per share.  

Honeywell Flour reported a decline of N0.14kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.34kobo to end trading at N2.20kobo per share. 

Japaul Gold share depreciated to N0.27kobo from N0.28kobo, after losing 3.57 per cent during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

FBN Holdings reported 207.61 million shares valued at N2.47 million were traded on its floor  

GTCO recorded 13.75 million shares valued at N318.20 billion 

AIICO saw investors trade 12.24 million of its shares valued at N7.67 million 

UBA recorded 8.15 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N64.58 million 

Access Corp reported 6.74 million shares valued at N58.91 million exchanged investors’ hands.
