Canada-based Scholar Otiono, Lindsday Barret, UniAbuja VC, Among Nominees For Nigerian Authors 2022 Fellowship

Nigerian Associate Professor at the Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, Nduka Otiono and Vice Chancellors of the University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Alla are among the nominees shortlisted for the 2022 Fellowship of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

The Association announced the list of 2022 fellowship nominees in a statement released on Friday, September 16.

The statement signed by ANA general secretary, Maik Ortserga, which listed 18 nominees also identified three in the honourary fellows category.

Ortserga said the nomination is based on the nominees’ outstanding contributions to the growth of Literature over the years.

“The National Secretariat of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) is, hereby, pleased to release the list of ANA Fellowship nominees for 2022.

“ANA considers it a rare privilege to reckon with the nominees’ enormous investment, participation, and outstanding contributions to the growth of Literature over the years.

“We have come out with the list after a thorough assessment by a committee set up for the purpose.” the general secretary stated.

Otiono who is a Professor of African Studies and English at Carelton University, is also the current Director of the Institute of African Studies, at the university.

Otiono, an author and co-editor of several books on creative writing and academic research, recently had his latest poetry collection titled “DisPlace: The Poetry of Nduka Otiono,” shortlisted for the Archibald Lampman Award for poetry which will take place on October 19 this year.

Other nominees according to the list are Lindsay Barret, a Jamaican-born poet, novelist, playwright and journalist; Prof. Anaezi Okoro, Nigerian writer and medical practitioner; Prof. Moses Tsenongu, lecturer at Department of English, Benue State University; Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu (CP Rtd.), former police public relations officer; and Prof. Tess Onwueme, Nigerian playwright.

Others include Prof. Razinat Mohammed, award winning author; Prof. Udenta O. Udenta, Engr. Emmanuel Frank-Opigo, Dr. John Asien, Miasonima Minima, Prof. Nduka Otiono, Prof. Vicky Sylvester, Prof. Yusuf Adamu, Dr. Tony Marinho, Prof. Mark Nwagwu, Prof. Dul Johnson, and Prof. Amanze Akpuda.

The Honorary Fellows are Prof. Chidi Osuagwu, Dr. Zainab Ahmed, and Engr. Abubakar Maigandi.
