Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to lock horns with Cameroonian club Cotonsport Garoua in a friendly ahead of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
Cotonsport’s director of communications Saliou Amadou revealed to Cameroon sports publication Sportsglitz that the club have received a proposal from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for a warm-up game.
Super Eagles head coach Austin Eguavoen revealed in an interview with Nigeria Football Federation TV that there will not be ample time to have the Eagles play a ‘competitive’ friendly before the Nations Cup but hopes his team will play a couple of test games before their opening group game against Egypt.
Cotonsport is based in the North Region of Cameroon where the Super Eagles are programmed to play their three group matches and possibly the Round of 16 encounter if they go beyond the group stage.
The three –time winners, Nigeria will confront seven-time and record winners Egypt, Sudan and debutants Guinea Bissau with venue in the northern town of Garoua, and a mouth-watering clash with the Pharaohs in the group opener on Tuesday, 11th January.
