CAF Releases Schedules For CHAN 2024 In Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) you in collaboration with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the three host countries for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) have released the official match schedules.

The tournament which serves as preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda will kick off Saturday, August 2, 2025 with co-host Tanzania facing Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The opening match is scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time.

On Sunday, August 3, two fixtures will hold in Nairobi.

Kenya will face the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Moi International Sports Centre at 12pm Nigerian time.

Later that evening, Morocco will battle Angola at Nyayo Stadium at 3pm Nigerian time.

Meanwhile, the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium will once again take center stage at 5pm as Madagascar lock horns with Mauritania in the final match of a thrilling Sunday lineup.

Kampala will host its first matches on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Co-hosts Uganda will face Algeria at 5pm preceded by a clash between Niger and Guinea at 2pm, both at Mandela National Stadium.

The third-place playoff is scheduled for Friday, August 29, 2025, at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, with kick-off set for 3pm.

The tournament will conclude the next day, Saturday, August 30, 2025, with the grand finale set to take place at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi at 3pm.

QUALIFIED TEAMS:

CECAFA: Hosts: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, along with Sudan.

WAFU A: Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania.

WAFU B: Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria.

UNIFFAC: Central Africa Republic, Congo, DR Congo.

COSAFA: Angola, Madagascar, Zambia.

UNAF: Morocco.

The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), now rescheduled to August 2–30, 2025, marks the 8th edition of CAF’s biennial football tournament, exclusively featuring players active in their domestic leagues.

Originally slated for February 2025, the tournament was pushed to August due to infrastructure delays and additional qualifying rounds following withdrawals by Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Gabon.

Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia

Group B: Tanzania, Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan

Group C: Uganda, Niger, Guinea, Algeria, South Africa

Group D: Nigeria, Senegal, Congo, Sudan
