Nigeria, Morocco, South Africa and Zambia automatically qualified for the competition while either Senegal or Cameroon will qualify through an intercontinental playoff in January.

The Secretary General of the body Omba Mosengo said they will meet in early 2023 to make proper arrangements for the team just like the way they did for the men’s team that played in Qatar.

“We will propose similar ways that were implemented with the 5 men’s teams that went to Qatar,” SG Veron said.

The tournament will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in mid-2023.

The Super Falcons are nine-time African champions but lost their title to South Africa in July to South Africa at the 2022 CAF Africa Women’s Nations Cup.

The Nigerian women’s national team have played in every FIFA Women’s (senior) World Cup since the inuagual edition in 1991 when China hosted the world.

Nigeria’s best run in the FIFA Women’s World Cup came in 1999 when the team reached the quarterfinals stage of the tournament in the USA when they lost 4-3 to Brazil after extra time.

The Falcons are expected to play a couple of friendly matches before their pre tournament training camp opens.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) president, Patrice Motsepe this week opined that the Super Eagles of Nigeria have the potential to win the FIFA World Cup following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Super Falcons will rely hugely on experienced players like Asisat Oshoala, Osinachi Ohale, Ifeoma Onumonu, Rasheedat Ajibade, Francesca Ordega, while a couple of youth internationals are expected to make the upgrade into the senior squad.
