CAF Inter-club Draws: Rivers United, Plateau United Face Potential Tough Qualifiying Fixtures

Nigerian clubs Rivers United and Plateau United have been handed difficult passage to the group stage of the CAF Champions League after Tuesday’s draw of the preliminary rounds of the competition reports Prime Business Africa.

According to the draws held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, should Rivers United who are the Nigeria Professional Football League winners after the concluded 2021-2022 season get past WATANGA of Liberia they will confront defending champions Wydad of Morocco in the 2nd round.

Rivers topped the NPFL table with 77 points, 10 points clear of Plateau United In second place.

Jos-based Plateau United will face off against Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in the next round should they go past Stade Mandji.

The first legs of the first round fixtures will hold between September 9 and 11, 2022 while the second legs ties come up September 16 and 18.

The CAF Confederation Cup will be an interesting one to keep an eye on as the League Management Committee (LMC) has submitted the name of Kwara United as Nigeria’s representatives in the second-tier club tournament despite the Aiteo Cup still ongoing.

Akwa United will also represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.

He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line. Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
