The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday announced that Morocco will host the African Women’s Cup of Nations in 2024 reports Prime Business Africa.
Morocco were the hosts of the tournament last month which produced four African representatives at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Morocco were beaten finalists in the final after going down 2-1 to South Africa on July 24.
South Africa, Morocco, Zambia and Nigeria automatically booked their places in the World Cup while Cameroon and Senegal will take part in a playoff in February 2023 in a bid to reach the tournament.
The Confederation of African Football are getting set for its 44th Congress in Rabat where far reaching decisions and groundbreaking innovations are being made.
The four semifinalists of the WAFCON in 2024 will however not represent Africa in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup as there will be another Women’s Nations Cup in the year 2026.
Nigeria are nine-time African champions of the biannual tournament from 12 editions.
