Burna Boy 'Troll' Video Exposed As Fake, Speed Darlington's Claim Debunked

Earlier on of 24th January, 2025, instablog9ja on its X handle (formerly Twitter), posted a video of Speed Darlington using a Diddy mask in what looked like he was shading Burna boy after his release from prison.

The news, which went viral, drew reactions from people including media personalities. Daniel Regha criticised Speed Darlington for shading Burna boy again after being arrested twice for the same reason.

However, it was later debunked after it was confirmed to be an old video that was posted in November 2024, before Seed Darlington’s second arrest.

Earlier on October 2024, Speed Darlington was arrested over allegations of “defamation and cyberstalking” of Burna Boy but was released on bail on 8th October 2024.

Fans became aware of Speed Darlington’s situation after his mother shared a viral video addressing her son’s arrest over a video he posted online.

Amidst concerns on Darlington’s whereabouts, Burna Boy fuelled speculation with a post on X saying, “Who’s missing?” The post sparked widespread debate, with many assuming that Burna Boy was involved in Darlington’s detention.

According to lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, Speed Darlington was arrested in Lagos and later transferred to Abuja. Mr Adeyanju confirmed that the petition leading to the arrest was filed by Burna Boy.

After several days in custody, Speed Darlington was released following Mr Adeyanju’s intervention. The lawyer assisted him to meet the bail conditions set by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) department of the Nigeria Police in Abuja.

Speed Darlington later channelled the experience into his diss track, Baby Oil. The situation escalated when Speed Darlington demanded an apology from Burna Boy’s mother and N12 million compensation, leading to his arrest on 27th November 2024 during a performance in Owerri.

The arrest was confirmed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, shared the news on his X handle on Wednesday, 27th November 2024. According to Adeyanju, the incident occurred during a performance as part of the artist’s return to Nigeria. Eventually, on 15th January 2025, Speed Darlington was granted bail of N20 million, requiring a Level 10 civil servant as surety.

Meanwhile, netizens have asked instablog9ja to take down the post because a lot of people misunderstood it to avoid further misinformation. Daniel Regha later apologised for the misunderstanding and criticisms. He also took down his post and also debunked it on another post instablog9ja made about his response criticising Speed Darlington.
