Burna Boy: Top Male Artist For Boomplay, Apple Music, Spotify

2022 has been an all-around good year for the Nigerian Entertainment industry, and Burna Boy had an amazing run, as he is Boomplay, Apple Music, and Spotify’s number-one male artist for 2022.

Burna Boy’s sixth studio album, “Love, Damini,” was released in 2022 and it was the top most streamed music on Boomplay Nigeria, Apple Music Nigeria, and Spotify Nigeria.

Burna Boy now emerged as the 2022 most streamed artist on three of the major streaming platforms in Nigeria in a remarkable feat that captures his hugely successful 2022.

The album’s breakout single, “Last Last,” was a big hit gaining international presence and success, helping to push Burna Boy to the top of the charts.

Coming in second is non-other than Mr. Money, Asake, who is closely followed by “Buga” coroner, Kizz Daniel, who emerged as the third most streamed artist of the year.

In addition to dominating the streaming platforms, Burna Boy will be wrapping up 2022 with two Grammy nominations for World Album and Global Song of the year.

Recall that Burna Boy also bagged two MOBO awards, in the UK earlier this Month. The event is held annually to recognize and award Music of Black Origins, and celebrated its 25th anniversary on Thursday, 1ST December 2022, at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London.

Burna, carted home the awards for Best International Act, beating global music heavyweights such as Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. Jack Harlow, Skillibeng, Summer Walker, Jasmine Suleiman, and Tems were also nominated for the Category.

He also won the Best African Music Act Category, which was notably dominated by artists in the Nigerian Entertainment industry.

Adekunle Gold, Asake, Fireboy DML, Omah Lay, Oxlade, Pheelz, Rema, Tems, as well as South Africa’s Kabza De Small were nominated in the category.
