Buhari Congratulates New AFCAC Sec. Gen. Adefunke

President Mohammadu Buhari has congratulated the newly appointed Secretary General of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), Adefunke Adeyemi.

Buhari, who expressed his joy in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Nigeria is committed to promoting a prosperous and integrated Africa through activities of such organisations as AFCAC.

AFCAC, an African Union agency responsible for civil Aviation in Africa, now has a Nigerian-born Adefunke as its secretary.

The President said he trusts that Adefunke will promote the objective of the commission.

He listed names of various contributors who will support the course as the Bureau, Secretariat; AFCAC member states, international organisations, State Partners, all aviation and affiliated stakeholders.

Part of the statement read “As Nigeria is a signatory to the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), President Buhari urges the Commission to remain resolute in the implementation of the full liberalisation of air transport services, with the attendant benefits: increased air service levels and lower fares, facilitate tourism, trade and investment as well as enhance productivity, economic growth and employment.”
