BREAKING: Stubborn Fire Razes Onitsha Petrol Station, Injures Many

A petrol station at Savoy by Awka Road, Onitsha in Anambra State caught fire on Sunday evening, injuring many people and razing some houses in the area.

Cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown as at time of filling this report, but an explosion that occured at the scene caused a stampede which led to more people sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

The scene of the accident is very close to Nnamdi Azikiwe’s mausoleum, and close to about five other petrol stations and a gas refilling plant. Footages show petrol flooding the Awka road raising fear of fire destroying more properties along the road.

A combined team of police, Fire service and Officers of the Nigerian Army from Onitsha Military Cantonment have made frantic efforts to curtail spread of the fire.
