Breaking News: APC Summons Emergency NEC Meeting For April 20

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to hold its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday April 20, 2022, impeccable sources told Prime Business Africa Thursday evening. It was gathered that the meeting which is expected to hold at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja will begin at 10 am on Wednesday.

Information reaching our Politics Correspondent in Abuja indicates that the proposed emergency meeting is at the instance of the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC, led by the National Chairman Senator Abudullahi Adamu and based on Article 25:2 of the APC Constitution that empowers the NWC to act in that direction.

Prime Business Africa also gathered that one of the major issues necessitating the emergency meeting, as sought by the NWC,  is the much-needed NEC’s approval for APC’s timetable for all events leading to the 2023 general elections as they relate to the ruling party’s primaries to elect candidates for all elections and to submit same to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in good time.

Other urgent matters for the Wednesday April 20, 2022 NEC emergency meeting may include the need to secure the approval of NEC and that of President Muhammadu Buhari for other NWC decisions relating to the timetable for APC congresses, especially the proposed N100 million cost for presidential forms as exclusively reported by Prime Business Africa.

Recall that the APC on March 26, 2022 held its national convention during which it elected its national and regional leaders, including Senator Adamu as National Chairman. The NWC held its inaugural meeting four days after the Convention and has subsequently met at least twice after the inauguration.

Barely 24 hours after it broke the news of the APC’s April 20  NEC emergency  meeting, Prime Business Africa sighted a notice to that effect apparently being circulated t all NEC members thus:

”I am directed by the National Secretary to invite you to the meeting of NEC which will take place as follow:
Date:  20 April Wed. 2022
Time 10am
Accreditation start by 8am and everyone to be seated by before 9:30am
