Breaking: Messi Wins 8th Ballon D’Or Award; Beats Haaland, Mbappe To Second, Third Place

Inter Miami and Argentina forward Lionel Messi on Monday night in Paris has won an eighth Ballon D’Or Award at a glittering ceremony.

Former Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester United and England star, David Beckham, unveiled the winner as he was called into the stage of co-host Didier Drogba.

Incidentally, Beckham is co-owner at MLS franchise, Inter Miami, where Messi currently plays his club football in the United States.

Nigeria was made proud in the race for the word best player for the 2022/2023 season as SS Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was ranked the 8th best, chalking up one nomination.

The Serie A topscorer with 29 goals last term is strongly ripped to win the next African Footballer of The Year award as his closest rivals, Mohamed Salah and Yacine Bonou finished in 11th and 14th place.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons Asisat Oshoala was rated the women’s number 20th best player last season.
