Arsenal’s pursuit of main target (Rice) is however still ongoing based on the reports by The Athletic.

Meanwhile one of the possible transfer solutions Arsenal may have in the defensive midfield position, Adrien Rabiot is getting very close to extending his contract with Italian Serie A giants, Juventus, according to Sky Sport

The Athletic further scooped that Arsenal who finished behind champions, Manchester City last season will make a third offer for the midfield ace with an improved financial outlay.

Before Monday’s big breaking news, some reports earlier indicated that the Gunners might return with interest for Brighton and Hoves Albion star Moises Caicedo with an £80m offer or seek to acquire Everton’s Amadou Onana.

Arsenal were close to winning the Premier League title last season but faltered at the business end of the campaign which let City chase them down and eventually got to the finish line with five points clear.
