Breaking: Ex-EFCC Chairman, Lamorde, Passes On At 61

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, has passed away at the age of 61.
Lamorde reportedly died in Egypt on Sunday morning, where he was said to have gone for medical treatment.
Born on December 20, 1962, Lamorde joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1986 and retired as a Deputy Inspector General of Police in 2021.
Lamorde, who was the third Executive Chairman of the EFCC served between 2011 and 2015.

He served as the pioneer Director of Operations when EFCC was created in December 2003. He was the Acting Chairman between January and June 2008, when Mrs Waziri was as appointed Chairperson.

Mr Lamorde returned to the position of Acting Chairman in November 2011 when Mrs Waziri left office. He was subsequently confirmed as substantive Chairman of the EFCC on 15 February 2012 under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. He replaced by Ibrahim Magu in 2015 under President Muhammadu Buhari regime.
