The deal taking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona to Chelsea was agreed in principle before the transfer deadline at 11pm on Thursday, September 1.

The former Gabon international arrived from Barcelona barely three days after he was attacked by armed men in his home in Spain.

The former Arsenal captain left north London for Barcelona back in the January transfer window but following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona, Aubameyang’s playing time was set to be limited.

Now, the striker is set to seal a reunion with boss Thomas Tuchel wh he worked with at Borussia Dortmund as Premier League clubs passed the £2billion mark in a record transfer-window spree.

Chelsea have agreed to give Barcelona £12m plus left back Marcos Alonso for Aubameyang.

Aubameyang will join Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka and Wesley Fofana at Chelsea after new owner Todd Boehly splashed out £280m this summer.

The deal will form part of a record window for the top flight, with Nottingham Forest signing a staggering 19 players and more set to be announced.
