A spokesperson for Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, Daniel Bwala, has advised the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to sue the Nigerian government over his impersonation by an unknown person.

Bwala, who gave the advice on Friday said that Obi should approach the court to compel President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to provide the impersonator whom the Nigerian Immigration Service issued Obi’s passport and other details.

Bwala disclosed this via his Twitter where he alleged that the impersonator was issued Obi’s passport by the Nigerian Immigration Service as the agency has his bio-data and other details, adding that it is the responsibility of the government to fitch out the impersonator and whoever is using the LP presidential candidate for the criminal act.

“One fact is clear, the impersonator was issued the passport by Nigerian Immigration. They have his bio-data and details about him. Peter Obi should sue the Nigerian government in court and compel them to smoke the man out and whoever may be using him for the smear campaign,” Bwala wrote on his Twitter handle on Friday, 14th April.

Prime Business Africa had reported that Obi was on Good Friday, 7th April, detained for hours and questioned at Heathrow Airport in London, by some immigration officials, over a case of “duplicate identity.”

The detention saga was also confirmed by the spokesman of the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, Diran Onifade, in a statement released to newsmen.

Last Wednesday, a report emerged that the UK Immigration authority has apologised to Obi over the incident. However, the former Anambra governor was quick to dismiss it as “fake news”, saying that he did not receive any communication from the UK tendering an apology to him.

Onifade stated that Obi has put the matter behind and moved on as he is focused on reclaiming his mandate with the ongoing case at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
