Consequently the player has been permitted to travel to South London to wrap up the deal which was shrouded in secrecy ostensibly due to the recent transfer misfortunes of Thomas Tuchel’s side in the hands of Barcelona.

“Aston Villa and Chelsea can confirm that the clubs have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka.

“The 18-year-old has been given permission to travel to London to discuss both personal terms and undergo a medical,” the tweet from Chelsea stated.

The news of Chukwuemeka’s move to Stamford Bridge was further confirmed by Sky Sports News on Tuesday.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard did not take the prodigious talent to their pre season tour as he stayed back in England to work on his fitness levels.

Chukwuemeka, born to a Nigerian parents in Austria, made 12 league appearances for the Villians last season starting in two of those games.

The player whose older brother, Caleb also plays for Aston Villa was promoted to the senior squad of Villa in February 2021 after outstanding performances in the U-18 squad.

Chukwuemeka was part of the England U-19 squad that defeated Israel in the final of the 2022 UEFA U-19 Championship.
