In what appears a reconciliation effort for the ruling party, President Muhammadu Buhari  on Tuesday broke the Ramadan Fast with 18 leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  at the State House, Abuja.

In Buhari’s list of 18 special invitees were former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former APC chairmen Bisi Akande, John Odigie-Oyegun and Adams Oshiomhole. Tinubu, it was learnt, was absent as he was said to be on a Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Other invitees were: Ali Modu Sheriff, Murtala Nyako, Ahmed Sani Yarima  Olusegun Osoba, Professor Osunbor, Senator Aliyu M. Wamako, Murtala Nyako, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, General Muhammed Mogoro, Senator Lawal Shuaibu, Senator Abba Aji, Tijani Musa Tumsah, Amb. Fati Balah, Hon. Abubakar Giri and Alhaji Nasiru Dani.

Prime Business Africa reports that the President had in a letter, signed by his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim A. Gambari and dated April 22, caused invitations to be sent to the concerned APC leaders for the reason of the special Ramadan dinner.

Those familiar with the whole arrangement told Prime Business Africa that the dinner afforded the President an opportunity to ‘rub minds and reconcile perceived misgivings’ following the concluded March 26 National Convention, the emergence of a new National Chairman as well as set a  clean ground for the conduct of the all-important party primary elections in May.

It was gathered on good authority that all invitees of the President, except Tinubu, were in attendance and indeed broke the fast with him on Tuesday April 26, 2022.

”I write to inform that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that invitation be extended to the attached list of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join Mr President to Break Ramadan Fast on Tuesday, 26th April, 2022 at 1830 Hours in the Presidential Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja,” Professor Gambari had written in an invitation memo to the invitees.

”The leaders are to arrive the Pilot Gate by 1630 hours for Rapid COVID-19 Test at the State House Conference Centre and be seated at the venue by 1800 Hours.”
