Aruna Knows World Table Tennis Tournament Opponent Tuesday

Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna will on Tuesday, 2 January 2024, find out his opponent in the Doha 2024 World Table Tennis (WTT) tournament when the draw holds in Doha, reports Prime Business Africa.

The three-time Olympian who represented Nigeria at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympics, reaching the quarterfinals in the 2016 edition is looking to go one step better in his previous highest ranking when the competition ends in the Gulf.

Aruna is the first African to make it to the top 10 ranking of table tennis players and the only African player to have featured in the WTT Finals since its inaugural edition in 2021.

The Nigerian reached  quarterfinals of the tournament in 2014 in the Men’s Singles competition but could not advance beyond the semifinals when he was defeated by Bulgaria’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov.

The Lusail Sports Arena in Doha will be the venue of the WTT which will hold between January 3 and 5, 2024 where the top seeds will square up against the likes of Aruna in the first round of 16 on Wednesday.
