Arsenal, Brighton In Talks For Trossard’s Long-term Deal

January 19, 2023

Following the disappointment of losing out on January transfer target, Mykailo Mudryk, Arsenal are currently in talks (Thursday afternoon) with Premier League side, Brighton, for the signing of forward, Leandro Trossard.

Chelsea hijacked the Gunners’ move for the Ukrainian youngster, Mudryk, offering triple the offer made by Technical Director, Edu.

A total of £20 Million of the £88.5 Million Mudryk deal is expected to be donated to Ukraine’s fight against Russia’s invasion.

According to reports in the English media on Thursday, Trossard has agreed to personal terms with the north London side, Arsenal.

The pay structure is considered as the only reason why the negotiation may not be concluded this weekend.

Trossard, 28, played for Belgium at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and there are indications that he may be offered a three-year contract with the option of more extensions.

Trossard has become unsettled at Brighton after falling out with head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

Despite scoring five goals in 11 games since the Italian tactician took charge, their relationship has turned sour.

Trossard only recently scored all goals as Brighton defeated Liverpool in a 3-0 humiliation of the Reds.

Trossard’s agent responded to his recent omission from their matchday squad in their reverse leg fixture against the Reds by issuing a statement that made it clear a transfer was the only appropriate solution.

The forward is expected to add depth to Mikel Arteta’s lean squad, decimated by injuries to key attacking players, thanks to his versatility and experience.

Trossard has contributed 25 goals and 14 assists from 121 appearances for Brighton.

Able to play as a winger or more centrally, Trossard could complement what Arsenal already have in many ways.
