APC Denies Writing Tinubu On Presidential Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied authoring a draft letter said to have been  written to the party Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu about an alleged unilateral decision in the appointment of  campaign council members.

The draft letter sighted by Prime Business Africa (PBA) on Wednesday, purportedly complained about appointments into the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) without recourse to the National Working Committee (NWC)  for approval.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Barrister Felix Morka in a reactioary statement on Thursday said the National Chairman did not sign the draft document.

PBA and other mainstream media had reported the draft later which was leaked to the media on Wednesday night. The said draft letter followed was reportedly an aoutcome of an emergency NWC meeting which took place on Wednesday as reported by Prime Business Africa. The meeting finally took place between 12.30 p.m  and 5 p.m on Wednesday and reportedly agreed that a letter should be written to the candidate to express the NWC’s dioscontent  following which the said ‘draft letter’  was written to be sent to Tinubu’s campaign.

Adamu was said to have complained about being disappointed in Tinubu for purportedly breaching an agreement they had by sidelining him and the NWC as a whole while appointing members of PCC.

However, the ruling party in a statement signed by its spokesman, Barr. Morka,  said  the chairman  neither authored the said report nor expressed dissatisfaction with the appointment of the Tinubu campaign Council members.

What Morka is saying:
The statement reads, “To be clear, the “DRAFT” letter did not emanate from the Party. An UNSIGNED letter that marks itself as a ‘DRAFT cannot and should not be attributed to its purported author.

“The National Chairman of our Party and our Presidential Candidate maintain cordial and effective communication channels, and enjoy full liberty of open and frank conversations on matters of interest to the Party and our Presidential Campaign. As such, an unsigned “DRAFT” letter of the kind in circulation is patently unnecessary and of no qualitative value to engagement between the Party and the PCC.

“We will not be distracted by the wishes and actions of detractors that wait gleefully but in vain for some kind of crisis to erupt between the Party and the PCC.

“We stand united, as a Party, in our resolve and commitment to execute a focused and issue-driven campaign to persuade Nigerians to renew our mandate in next year’s general election,” Morka stated.
