Antony went public with his interest in departing from the Eredivisie champions last week when he granted an interview to transfer expert and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“Since February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face new challenge and that some interested clubs would arrive and with them, certainly a great offer,” Antony told Romano in the interview.

Brazilian news outlet TNT Sports also confirmed that the player would have his medical and may be announced by Manchester United on Monday. He is expected to sign a five-year contract with the club.

The report claimed that due to paperwork and issues with the change of countries, the pacey forward is not expected to be available for the Red Devils’ match Leicester City on Thursday, but Erik ten Hag would be keen to have him in the squad for the game versus Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Antony is set to become Manchester United’s fifth signing in the summer window, following the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro.
