The former two-time world heavyweight champion was said to be conscious after the crash and was taken away from the scene for medical evaluation. There was no official confirmation of the identities of the deceased as of the time of filing this report, while authorities have not released a detailed medical update on Joshua.

The incident triggered significant traffic disruption along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway as rescue operations and investigations were carried out. Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Ogun State Police Command are reportedly investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Reactions have continued to trail the development, with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar expressing sympathy to Joshua and the families of the victims in a public message. Fans across social media also shared messages of concern and relief following confirmation that the boxer survived the crash.
