Anambra Police Crack Down on Town Union Election Violence: ‘Stay Peaceful or Face the Law’

December 27, 2025

The Anambra State Police Command has issued a stern warning to would-be troublemakers ahead of town union elections across the state during the Yelutide.

In a security advisory, the police urged community members, candidates, and supporters to exercise restraint and respect the decisions of constituted authorities, emphasizing that any form of violence or intimidation will be met with swift legal action.

“Town union elections are vital to grassroots development, but they must be conducted peacefully and lawfully,” the police said. Adequate security personnel and resources have been deployed to ensure the safety of lives and property, and anyone engaging in criminal activities will be arrested and prosecuted.
