The State Government had in June, 2021 suspended all community based government elections, including executive officers of Anambra State Association of Town Unions women and youth wing, saying it was in line with its practice over the years to effect such ban before major elections.

Obi advised that activities should resume and be conducted in strict compliance with laid down procedures and constitution of each community.

The statement reads, ” This is to inform all communities and the general public that the statewide ban on elections of Igwe and Town Union Government is hereby lifted and effective immediately.

“Activities may therefore resume in line with the laid down procedures and constitution of each community in this regard.
“Please be guided accordingly,” Obi stated.
