Nollywood actor Jidekene Achufusi, known for his role in the record-breaking film “A Tribe Called Judah,” is taking a lighthearted approach to missing out on an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) nomination. Despite the film securing an impressive five nominations, Achufusi’s name was notably absent from the list.
The AMVCA nominations, announced on Sunday, March 24, 2024, sparked discussions online, particularly regarding notable snubs like Chimezie Imo for his standout performance in “Breath of Life” and Achufusi’s co-star Tobi Makinde.

However, instead of dwelling on the omission, Achufusi decided to inject humour into the situation, taking to Twitter on Wednesday, March 27, to share his perspective. “After delivering stellar performances in 2 of the top 3 films of 2024 but your snub isn’t trending,” he quipped, playfully questioning what Imo and Makinde had done differently to garner attention for their snubs.
“A Tribe Called Judah,” produced by Funke Akindele, received nominations in various categories, including Best Lead Actress for Akindele, Best Supporting Actor for Timini Egbuson, and Best Makeup for Feyisayo Oyebisi. Additionally, the film earned recognition for Best Writing, with nominations for Akindele, Collins Okoh, and Akinlabi Ishola. Competing against other notable films like “Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti,” “Breath of Life,” “Over the Bridge,” “Blood Vessel,” and “The Black Book,” Achufusi’s absence from the nominations list didn’t go unnoticed by fans.
