Amidst insecurity, JAMB commences 2021 UTME as scheduled

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have commenced the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the country.

Over 1.3 million candidates will sit for the Computer Based Test (CBT) examination. Scheduled to run till July 3, 2021, the examination commenced with the first batch on June 19, 2021.

Considering the insecurity situation in the country, most of the candidates that were supposed to take part in the examination were accompanied by their parents or guardian to the CBT centres.

There are however concerns over candidates who were unable to complete their registration due to the National Identification Number (NIN) that was made compulsory by JAMB.

However, JAMB has assured that provisions are being made to accommodate such candidates. There has been repeated assurance from the Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, to candidates and other stakeholders of plans to have a seamless examination exercise.

Prime Business had earlier reported the Lagos Zonal office of JAMB saying that 95 per cent of candidates for the 2021 UTME had met the NIN requirement.
