Airtel Nigeria’s Data Revenue Rises 40%, Voice Turnover Up 19% In Q2 2025

Airtel Africa said its revenue in Nigeria increased by 29.8 percent to $332 million in the second quarter of 2025, up from $256 million generated in the corresponding period in 2024.

This was driven by a 19.1 percent increase in voice revenue and 40.2 percent growth in data turnover during the period under review, according to the company’s financial statement for Q2 2025 (reported currency).

While breaking down its revenue segment, Airtel Africa said voice service generated $134 million in Q2 2025, exceeding the $112 million recorded in the second quarter of last year.

Likewise, $164 million was generated from data services between April and June, compared to the $117 million spent by Nigerians on data during the same period in 2024.

Airtle Africa also reported that it generated other revenue of $34 million in the second quarter of this year, compared to the other revenue generated in Q2 the previous year, indicating an increase of 27.3 percent.

Also, the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) grew by 49.9 percent year-on-year, from $123 million to $185 million.

In the financial report, Airtel Africa also reported that operating profit increased by 31.6 percent to $110 million, surpassing the $83 million posted in the corresponding period in 2024.

In addition, Airtel Africa’s profit before tax (PBT), covering all its markets on the continent, was $273 million during the period under review, up by 267.8 percent when compared to the $74 million reported in Q2 2024.

The company announced that it paid a tax charge of $117 million in Q2 2025, against the $43 million filed in the second quarter of the year before, representing an increase of 169.9 percent.

Regardless of the significant growth in its income tax, Airtel Africa recorded an increase of 408.1 percent year-on-year in its profit after tax (PAT), which grew from $31 million to $156 million.

Away from its financials, Airtel Africa disclosed that its total customer base in Nigeria soared to 53.6 million between April and June this year, compared to the 50.4 million reached within the same period in 2024.

While the company’s total customer base grew by 6.3 percent, its data subscriber base increased by 11.3 percent year-on-year, from 26.3 million to 29.3 million.
