Air Peace has condemned the unruly conduct of a prominent politician who disrupted the airline’s operations after missing a flight at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos on Wednesday morning.

In a statement signed by the management, the airline said the prominent individual arrived at the airport at approximately 06:10 AM when boarding had closed for a 06:30 am flight.

Part of the statement reads: “Air Peace strongly condemns the unruly conduct of a prominent Nigerian politician who disrupted airport operations on the morning of Wednesday, June 1, 2025.

“The prominent individual in question arrived at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) at approximately 06:10 AM for Flight P47120 scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 06:30 AM. In line with our standard on-time departure policy, the boarding process had closed, and the flight departed as scheduled.”

It said that upon being informed that he had missed the flight, the man resorted to violence, physically assaulting the airline’s staff and forcefully barricading the terminal’s entrance, and engaged in other actions aimed at obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.

“This unacceptable behaviour caused significant disruption to ongoing operations and affected numerous travellers scheduled for various flights,” the airline stated.

The statement further revealed that in a bid to minimise inconvenience, Air Peace activated a contingency plan to board affected passengers through an alternate terminal, ensuring the continuity of their travel plans.

Air Peace expressed sadness over the unruly conduct of the politician, which it said is disruptive to fellow passengers and the airline’s personnel.

Though Air Peace did not mention the politician in the statement, videos posted on social media on Wednesday showed former Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, engaging in a heated argument with some staff of the airline over the missed flight.

He was also seen in another video sitting on a seat, blocking the entrance gate of the terminal with some people apparently pleading with him to leave.

While reiterating its zero-tolerance for any form of violence or aggression against its staff and passengers, Air Peace urged all guests to remain civil.

“We urge all guests to remain civil and cooperative at all times. Aviation operations are bound by strict timelines and safety protocols, and we remain committed to upholding these standards while delivering safe and timely services to the Nigerian public.

“Air Peace continues to stand for discipline, integrity, and respect for due process. No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values.”
