Leading airline in Sub-Saharan Africa, Air Peace, has begun transit flights through Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos to different international destinations.

This was confirmed in a statement released by the airline on Thursday.

Travellers going to international destinations with no available direct flights usually need to go through the transit process.

According to Air Peace, the transit service offers passengers from other countries the opportunity to use Air Peace in flying to international and regional destinations by converging on Lagos Airport.

“Finally, Air Peace and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, have created the first Transit Hub in Nigeria at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos,” part of the airline’s statement read.

“Now, passengers from other countries can fly Air Peace to international and regional destinations through converging in Lagos from where they are flown to those destinations seamlessly without leaving the airport,” the statement added.

According to the airline, the transit international flights are: Accra-Mumbai-Accra, Accra-Jeddah-Accra, Accra-Johannesburg-Accra, Dakar-Jeddah and Dakar-Mumbai. The transit regional flights are: Accra-Freetown-Accra, Accra-Douala-Accra, Monrovia-Lome-Monrovia, Accra-Dakar-Accra, Lome-Accra-Lome and Accra-Banjul-Accra.

The airline’s founder and chairman, Dr Allen Onyema, had at different times emphasised the need for the Nigerian authorities to upgrade infrastructure at the nation’s airports including the creation of facilities to accommodate international travellers on transit to other international and regional destinations.

Air Peace emphasized its dedication to ongoing innovation in the provision of in-flight services, with the goal of giving clients a remarkable experience at every turn.

The airline reaffirms that a crucial element of its ambitious ambitions continues to be strategic connectivity across important domestic, regional, and international locations.

The company has since it began operations nine years ago, been on a drive of expansion to give travellers both locally and internationally good experience and meeting their connectivity needs.

Prime Business Africa reports that as part of that expansion effort, the airline recently secured a permit to operate into the United Kingdom while getting set to launch the destination.

Air Peace has launched some international routes this year such as direct flights to Mumbai, India on 31 March, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in October 2023. It currently flies to not less than 20 major cities in Nigeria, and operates several regional routes.
