Adeleke Unveils Plans For Health, Education, Agriculture Sectors In Osun

Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has unveiled his intentions and strategies for the development of the state in the areas of health, agriculture, education, entertainment among others.

In an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Monday, Adeleke disclosed that his administration would would focus on executing infrastructural projects in health, entertainment, agriculture, education and other vital sectors to boost all round development of the state.
Adeleke also stated that his administration would give no room for idleness, but constantly promote hard work.

On the agricultural sector, the governor-elect said he would create programmes of action meant to boost productivity as a way of boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and reviving the agricultural glory of the State, especially in cocoa production.

Dwelling on that he said, “We will invest in heavily in agriculture, because you see we have a fertile land, anything you plant can grow”.

On how to tackle youth empowerment, he said that would be done through the introduction of Small and Medium Enterprises schemes, and trainings on agricultural opportunities.

He also noted that the unemployment rate in the state is currently 36% and will be requiring a lot of hard work to surmount. For that, he said the citizens would be given opportunities to handle various infrastructural works in the state instead of using foreign corporate firms, and contractors.

In addressing the issue of insecurity in the state, Adeleke revealed that his administration would collaborate with the police and traditional rulers and will also introduce Community Policing. He added, that the local security operatives would help to ensure internal security across communities in the state.

Going further on revamping the educational sector, he said “we have to look at the infrastructure, learning environment of the children. Then encourage teachers.”

On healthcare, the governor-elect stated that both primary and secondary health care infrastructural facilities will be revamped to improve the living condition of the people.

The incoming governor also promised to work on improving power supply across the state.

“Even with the governor of Edo State, we have already started talking on doing something about that.”

Adeleke also said he will revitalize the entertainment sector, adding that Africa itself had made so much money from entertainment. “I will bring entertainment here, build an entertainment village.”

He also faulted the ruling party for its failure to bring to fruition its promises and pledged to remain accountable and deliver on all the promises made during his campaign.

The governor-elect also promised to put an end to financial impropriety, which he believes, incurs detrimental deficits for the state and handicapping the payment of civil servants and pensioners.

He also talked about minimising borrowing while striving to properly utilise borrowed funds on productive ventures and legacy projects.
