Abia Stakeholders, Politicians Drum Support For Abaribe Despite The Zoning Controversy

Important  stakeholders, including politicians across the political divide in Abia State have endorsed the ambition of Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe to govern the state in 2023.

They insisted that among the aspirants for the plum position across all political parties in the state so far, Abaribe stood out as the most qualified to do the job.

Hon. Uzoma Nkem-Abunta, member representing Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Benjamin Anyadioha, school proprietor base in Aba, Stella Igbokwe, former state woman leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abia State, among others who spoke to Prime Business Africa in some parts of the state on the controversial issue added that Abaribe’s emergence as governor would erase political imposition in the state.

According to Igbokwe, Abians should root their support for Abaribe, “because he is the only one that has the capacity and credibility to deliver Abia from the shackle of bad governance we are now in.
“I know very well that Abaribe and the incumbent Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu are from the same Local Government but that does not matter now because what Abians need at this precarious time is who knows what Abia State needs and wants and who has all it takes to take Abia to the promised land. So for me and for the women of Abia State, it is Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe and no one else.”

And for Anyadioha,” among the aspirants I have seen so far, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe stands out as one who is going to get the ticket from PDP and eventually win the election. And we have no doubt he will make a very good Governor. He has the experience.
“He is one man that doesn’t have a godfather and whose emergence will end political imposition because nobody is going to pushing him around on the basis of sponsoring him and all that. He is fearless and always bold to speak to power. Yes, I am a politician but this is my candid assessment of what is on ground.”

“I know that in my party, PDP, there are about ten aspirants for now. I don’t know of the other political parties, but among the whole, we must consider experience, antecedents and decide who to cast votes for. It is not in doubt that Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe record is outstanding and I have no doubt that he will make a good Governor.” Abunta added.

It could be recalled that speaking to Prime Business Africa recently in an exclusive interview, Abaribe, representing Abia South senatorial district insisted that his declaration did not counter the zoning accord.

He said, “there are incontrovertible facts that every zone in Abia State has for whatever reason tasted power for eight years each. So what it means is that the type of zoning that we have to do now will no longer be a zoning based on geographical basis. It will be a zoning that will be based on credibility, capacity and integrity. It will be a zoning based on the person who can lead PDP to victory.

“So now that all parts of Abia has tasted power, I do not think that by the time we started in 1999 because I was part of the elections in 1999, nobody sat down to say it is going to start from here or there. By the time we started in 1999, it was let the best man for PDP win which we did. Now haven gone full circle, I think the best way to start again is to go back to 1999 where the best man in PDP will also win.
