In a strongly worded statement issued by the Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party expressed its profound dissatisfaction with the court’s ruling. Ifoh asserted, “Justice was not served, and it did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.”

The party’s statement further disclosed that their next course of action would be unveiled after thorough consultations with their legal team and a careful examination of the certified true copy of the judgment.

Ifoh’s statement read, “The Labour Party watched with dismay and trepidation the dismissal of petitions by the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani today, and we reject the outcome of the judgment in its entirety because justice was not served and it did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.”

The statement continued by reminding Nigerians of the controversial events that transpired on February 25, 2023, during the elections. It emphasized that the global condemnation of these events had been disregarded by the Tribunal.

“What is at stake is democracy, and we will not relent until the will of the people prevails,” the statement declared passionately.

Acknowledging the tireless efforts of their legal team, the Labour Party expressed gratitude for their fearless pursuit of justice within the Nigerian system. The statement mourned the state of democracy in Nigeria but asserted that the party would not give up on the country.

The party promised to unveil further details of its position after thorough consultations with its legal team, underscoring its unwavering commitment to democracy in Nigeria.

The statement concluded with a call to all democracy enthusiasts to remain focused and hopeful, insisting that a new Nigeria was still attainable.
