In a report obtained from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Friday, the stock market capitalisation closed at N35.42 trillion, up from Thursday’s N35.27 trillion.

It indicates the Nigerian bourse’s valuation took an upward swing, rising by N148.93 billion or 0.42 per cent, after recording losses for four consecutive days.

This followed the 272.13 basis points gained by the All-Share Index, which appreciated from 64,448.96 ASI to 64,721.09 ASI.

Stock traders transacted N9.39 billion worth of stocks, as they traded 537.58 million shares in 5,893 deals on Friday, compared to the 320.34 million shares exchanged in 5,176 deals on Thursday, worth N3.72 billion. 

Top five gainers 

  • John Holt’s share appreciated by N0.13 kobo to rise from N1.32 kobo to N1.45 kobo per share. 
  • Consolidated Hallmark Insurance grew by 8.24 per cent, up from N0.85 kobo to N0.92 kobo per share.     
  • UPL ended trading with N2.40 kobo from N2.25 kobo per share, rising by N0.15 kobo.     
  • CWG gained N0.20 kobo to end trading at N3.80 kobo, having opened with N3.60 kobo per share.      
  • Prestige’s stock was up by 3.85 per cent, closing at N0.54 kobo from N0.52 kobo per share. 

Top five losers 

  • Guinea Insurance depreciated by 9.38 per cent, dwindling from N0.32 kobo to N0.29 kobo per share.       
  • Tantalizer declined by 9.09 per cent to end trading at N0.40 kobo, after opening at N0.44 kobo per share.       
  • Universal Insurance followed the same path, losing 8.70 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.21 kobo from N0.23 kobo per share.       
  • Champion Brew reported a decline of N0.28 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N3.40 kobo to end trading at N3.12 kobo per share.       
  • FTN Cocoa’s share depreciated to N2.06 from N2.24 kobo, after losing N0.18 kobo during trading hours.  

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • FBN Holdings reported 242.84 million shares, valued at N4.70 billion, were traded on its floor.       
  • Transcorp recorded 49.53 million shares valued at N205.99 million.     
  • GTCO saw investors trade 29.70 million shares valued at N1.07 billion.     
  • UBA recorded 26.53 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N370.84 million.     
  • FTN Cocoa reported 18.77 million shares, valued at N38.53 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
