Nigerian Bourse Falls By N141.70bn To Selloffs In Guinea, RT Briscoe, Others

At the end of trading on Thursday, Nigerian stock market capitalisation depreciated by N141.70 billion to N35.27 trillion, from the N35.36 trillion reported on Wednesday.

The All-Share Index slumped to 64,448.96 ASI from the previous day’s 64,625.28 ASI, as it lost 176.32 basis points.

On the trading floor, 320.34 million shares, worth N3.72 billion, were exchanged in 5,176 deals on Thursday, compared to the preceding day’s 291.71 million shares traded in 6,213 deals worth N7.43 billion.

Top five gainers

  • John Holt’s share appreciated by N0.12 kobo to rise from N1.20 kobo to N1.32 kobo per share. 
  • CWG grew by N0.32 kobo, up from N3.28 kobo to N3.60 kobo per share.     
  • Prestige ended trading with N0.52 kobo from N0.48 kobo per share, rising by 8.33 per cent.     
  • Cutix gained N0.20 kobo to end trading at N2.70 kobo, having opened with N2.50 kobo per share.      
  • Linkage Assurance’s stock was up by 7.69 per cent, closing at N0.98 kobo from N0.91 kobo per share. 

Top five losers 

  • Guinea Insurance depreciated by 8.57 per cent, dwindling from N0.35 kobo to N0.32 kobo per share.       
  • RT Briscoe declined by 8.16 per cent to end trading at N0.45 kobo, after opening at N0.49 kobo per share.       
  • Consolidated Hallmark Insurance followed the same path, losing 7.61 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.85 kobo from N0.92 kobo per share.       
  • Sunu Assurances reported a decline of 6.98 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.86 kobo to end trading at N0.80 kobo per share.       
  • DEAP Capital’s share depreciated to N0.28 kobo from N0.30 kobo, after losing 6.67 per cent during trading hours.  

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Fidelity Financial Holdings reported 80.04 million shares, valued at N595.54 million, were traded on its floor.       
  • Transcorp recorded 34.26 million shares valued at N137.20 million.     
  • UBA saw investors trade 24.39 million shares valued at N340.02 million.     
  • Universal Insurance recorded 22.42 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N5.06 million.     
  • FBN Holdings reported 19.09 million shares, valued at N353.48 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
