Vondrousova became the first unseeded player to reach a Wimbledon women’s singles final in the Open era by ending Elina Svitolina’s inspired run, winning 6-3 6-3.

Meanwhile, Britain’s Neal Skupski and Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof reached the final of the Wimbledon men’s doubles for the first time, beating India’s Rohan Bopanna and Australian Matthew Ebden 7-5 6-4.

Great Britain’s Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid are through the final of the men’s wheelchair doubles after beating Martin De La Puente and Gustavo Fernandez 7-5 6-3.

Lucy Shuker and Dutch partner Aniek van Koot were beaten in the semi-finals of the women’s wheelchair doubles.

Fellow Britons Andy Lapthorne and Greg Slade both lost their respective men’s wheelchair quad doubles semi-finals.

Earlier in the competition, big name casualties like Venus Williams (women) and Andy Murray (men) were eliminated following underwhelming performances against supposedly weaker oppositions.
