NFF Fetes Super Falcons Saturday Night Ahead Women’s World Cup

Nine-time African women champions Super Falcons will be hosted to a farewell dinner by the Nigeria Football Federation Saturday night before jetting off to Australia for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The team have participated in all previous editions of the tournament with their best outing being a quarterfinals finish in 1999 when they were beaten 4-3 by Brazil in the USA.

The team will be hosted at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja by the Nigeria Football Federation officials.

The Falcons will then travel to Australia for a 15-day camping before they open their campaign in Group B against Canada at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on July 21.

The match will kick off at 4.30am Nigerian time.

Randy Waldrum’s team will then face the Matildas of Australia on July 27 at Lang Park in Brisbane before returning to Melbourne for their final group-stage match against Republic of Ireland.

The team will be led by the ageless captain, Onome Ebi.

Other big stars on the team include Barcelona Femini star, Asisat Oshoala, Atletico Madrid ace Rasheedat Ajibade, Francesca Ordega and Desire Oparanozie.
