Makwe was arrested in the Guzape area of Abuja following credible intelligence about his internet-related fraud activities.

Uwuajaren said his victim is a Spaniard whom he defrauded by using multiple identities.

“Upon arrest, it was discovered that the suspect, bearing many aliases (Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, Dr. Bran), defrauded a Spaniard of €5.7million,” Uwuajaren said.

Makwe was alleged to have claimed to be a US Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI agent, and diplomatic solicitor. Through these fake identities he succeeded in defrauding his victim.

The statement noted that the suspect had started defrauding the victim since 2013 when they first met on social media.

Uwujaren said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
