Universal Insurance, Unity Bank, Other Investors Gain N10bn From Stock Trading

About N10 billion was gained by investors in the Nigerian stock market on Monday. This pushed the market capitalisation to N32.13 trillion, from Friday’s N32.12 trillion.

Also, the All-Share Index moved up to 59,014.85 index, rising by 13.89 basis points from last week Friday’s 59,000.96 ASI.

Over 892.95 billion shares were exchanged on Monday in 9,274 deals, valued at N11.14 billion, against the previous session when 622.41 million shares were traded in 9,417 deals, worth N6.51 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Universal Insurance share appreciated by 10 per cent to rise from N0.20 kobo to N0.22 kobo per share.
  • Tantalizers grew by 10 per cent, up from N0.20 kobo to N0.22 kobo per share.
  • Unity Bank ended trading with N1.12 kobo from N1.02 per share, rising by N0.10 kobo.
  • Mutual Benefit gained 9.76 per cent to end trading at N0.45 kobo, having opened with N0.41 kobo per share.
  • FTN Cocoa’s stock was up by N0.13 per cent, closing at N1.48 kobo from N1.35 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Ellah Lakes depreciated by N0.36 kobo, dwindling from N3.60 kobo to N3.24 kobo per share.
  • John Holt also fell by N0.11 kobo to end trading at N1.04, after opening at N1.15 kobo per share.
  • Academy followed the same path, losing N0.19 kobo after trading hours, to sell at N1.80 kobo from N1.99 kobo per share.
  • Omatek reported a decline of 7.14 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.28 kobo to end trading at N0.26 kobo per share.
  • Regal Insurance share depreciated to N0.39 kobo from N0.42 kobo, after losing 7.14 per cent during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

  • Jaiz Bank reported 139.89 million shares, valued at N244.31 million, were traded on its floor.
  • Sterling Bank recorded 105.54 million shares valued at N311.10 million.
  • Universal Insurance saw investors trade 95.11 million shares valued at N19.25 million.
  • GTCO recorded 83.80 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.65 million.
  • UBA reported 60.09 million shares, valued at N693.27 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
