Arsenal Star Saka Visits Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday expressed delight with the visit of Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka to the Lagos Government House.

The England international of Nigerian descent chose to represent the Three Lions of England but has always been proud of his Nigerian roots.

Sanwo-Olu was reinstated as the Lagos state Governor for a second stint after the March 18 gubernatorial elections.

Saka paid a courtesy call at the Alausa Lagos office of the state government where he was presented with a signed Arsenal jersey by the player himself.

Saka was torn between representing Nigeria and England where he had his footballing education.

“Exciting day at the State House, Marina today as I had the pleasure of hosting my favorite Arsenal player, Star Boy Bukayo Saka,” Sanwo-Olu said in a Twitter message on Saturday.

“I also enjoyed receiving my own signed Saka Jersey,” he added.

The Governor who is an Arsenal fan noted that he is proud of the club’s “incredible” run in the just concluded Premier League season adding that Saka’s exploits in the league has motivated many youths in Nigeria.

The Governor added that his administration is committed to developing grassroots football in the state.

“As a proud Gunner, I’m incredibly proud of their inspiring run in the Premier League with such a young team.

“Their determination has motivated many and shown us the power of youth. We’re committed to bringing that same spirit to grassroots football in Lagos.

“Together, let’s create opportunities for our talented young players.

“Thank you for visiting me Bukayo and I look forward to next season,” the Governor tweeted on Saturday.

Saka scored 10 Premier League goals this season for Arsenal and was ranked as the second best player in the just concluded campaign behind Erling Haaland.
