Iwobi Impresses, Chelsea Held By Resilient Everton At Stamford Bridge

March 18, 2023

Chelsea’s recent resurgence under Graham Potter came to a devastating halt on Saturday as Everton earned a late equaliser to dent their chances of climbing up the Premier League table.

Chelsea looked set to continue with their winning ways after Joao Felix gave them the lead shortly after half-time, and even though Everton equalised through Abdoulaye Doucoure, Kai Havertz restored the home side’s lead from the penalty spot.

But Dyche has already instilled a never-say-die spirit in Everton since taking over in January, and they got a deserved point when Simms scored his first goal for the club in the closing minutes.

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi had a good game as he burst forward from the wings and also played a huge role in the Toffes defending stoutly against Graham Potter’s side.

The duo of Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke were on the Chelsea substitutes’ bench for large parts of the game but Chukwuemeka played some parts towards the end of the match.

Chelsea is currently ninth on the log with 38 points with 11 rounds of league games left in the 2022/2023 season.

Chelsea had a bit of a purple patch in recent games as they won two league fixtures and qualified for the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League where they will face current European champions, Real Madrid.
