Keyamo Sues Atiku, EFCC, CCB, ICPC Over SPV Saga

Spokesperson of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has filed a suit against PDP presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) over the corruption allegations against Atiku.

Keyamo, who is also a Minister of State for Labour and Employment on 16th January 2023, petitioned CCB, EFCC and ICPC asking them to invite Atiku Abubakar for questioning on his allleged involvement in the diversion of public fund using the “Special Purpose Vehicles” (SPVs) while he was Vice President between 1999 and 2007.

Keyamo claimed that a whistlblower, one Michael Achimugu who he said was once an aide to Atiku made the disclosure recently.

In the petition sent to the three anti-graft Agencies, which they acknowledged reception, Keyamo had given a 72-hour ultimatum for them to invite or arrest former Vice President for interrogation failure to which he would sue them in court.

Following the expiration of the ultimatum, Keyamo has proceeded to file an action at the Federal High Court, Abuja division.

In the case with suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/84/2023, filed on Friday, 20th January 2023, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria is asking the court to compel the agencies to invite Atiku and also investigate the allegations by Achimugu, the whistleblower.

In the writ of summons from the Federal High Court Abuja, a copy of which was posted on Keyamo’s Twitter handle on Friday afternoon indicated that Atiku Abubakar, CCB, ICPC and EFCC were joined as first, second, third, and fourth defendants respectively, while Keyamo is the plaintiff.

According to the document, Prime Business Africa understands that the court has asked the defendants to make an appearance before it within 30 days of the service of summons over the suit.

The court also ordered the first defendant (Atiku) to make available to the anti-graft agencies, information for the purpose of their investigation.
