This is how the players rated in Argentina’s 3-0 thrashing of the 2018 FIFA World Cup finalists.

Argentina Player Ratings

E. Martinez 6: Good judgement of the ball inside his box. Aside the aerial balls, had little to do in 90 minutes of football.

Molina 7: Facing the Croats wasn’t his best days for Argentina albeit he had a hand in Alvarez’s second goal in the semifinals contest.

Romero 5: Booked in the second half. The Spurs defender had a very uneasy start to the game but gradually became a bit more comfortable.

Otamendi 5: Read the game well, was ready to put his body on the firing line.lucky not to have been sent off for a bad foul.

Tagliafico 6: Good workrate on Tuesday. He was a fool going forward in attack but his defensive job was not affected.

E Fernandez 6: Gorgeous through ball for Tagliafico and stung Lovakovic’s hands with a solid hit inside the half an hour.

De Paul 6: Solid in the midfield, breaking things up and getting Argentina moving. He nearly talked himself into getting a yellow card in the second half. Lucky.

Paredes 5: Not a lot of production on the ball, but works hard and keeps the shape required.

Mac Allister 7: The Brighton man had some combination play with Messi and really troubled the Europeans.

Messi 9: Created a bit of history by surpassing Gabriel Batistuta’s 11 goal record for Argentina at the World Cup. Good assist for Alvarez’s second goal. GOAT?

Alvarez 9: Quick off the mark for the Man City youngster and beats Livakovic to earn the penalty. A mazy run and clinical finish for the second goal then good movement and a calm head to keep the ball low for the third. Subbed off on the second half of the game.
