Salah Scores Brace, Liverpool Claim First Away Win Versus Tottenham

November 6, 2022
Liverpool on Sunday evening claimed a priceless win against Tottenham Hotspur in their first away win of the 2022/2023 Premier League season in a 2-1 win.
Mohamed Salah scored a first half double and they proved to be enough for the Reds who had to readjust their attacking game in the absence of injured duo, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
Between those two goals, Spurs thought they should have had a penalty for a Trent Alexander-Arnold push on Ryan Sessegnon and Antonio Conte’s side also hit the post following an Ivan Perisic header.
Harry Kane profited from the introduction of Dejan Kulusevski in the second half and got Spurs back in the game with a fine finish from a tight angle.
The England captain tumbled to the ground after a tangle with Ibrahima Konate but the referee ignored claims for a spot-kick. In fact Konate was the one fouled by the England captain from TV replays.
Spurs centre-back Clement Lenglet headed over from close range as the minutes ticked down but Liverpool held on to record just their fifth league win of the season.
Liverpool have two games to negotiate before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar – midweek Carabao Cup commitment with Derby County and the weekend’s clash against Southampton that on Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur was seriously affected by the absence of injured Hueng Min-Son who missed the game through an eye injury and has underwent surgery on his eye socket.
Liverpool and Tottenham have started the season on shaky notes and will look towards the January transfer window to add more firepower to their ranks.

Already, there are media reports in the English tabloids that the quartet of Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Joel Matip and Firmino may be moved in on the new year with manager Jurgen Klopp already casting his eyes across the globe for fresher legs.
