India High Commissioner Fetes Flamingos, Team To Depart For World Cup Next Week

The India High Commissioner to Nigeria His Excellency Gangaharan Balasubramanian on Thursday fecilitated with Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, Flamingos, who are set for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

The tournament holds between October 11th and 20th 2022.

The Flamingos were guests of the India High Commissioner as they seek securement of entry visas into the country.

“I am very happy to see you all. The High Commissioner; it is indeed an an him for him boy. I wish you the best of luck during the World Cup competition in India. We hope to see the next Oshoala and Ordega in this team.”

NFF’s Director of Competition, Ruth David, responded saying:

“On behalf of the President, Board and Management of Nigeria Football Federation, we thank the High Commissioner for this hospitality and we want to assure you that the NFF appreciates your understanding and co-operation at all times that we require the same.

“The Flamingos are already looking forward to being in India and to savour the beauty of the country, and also to put up a good attitude on and off the pitch.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in India from October 11 to October 30, and Bankole Olowookere, the head coach of Nigeria’s Under-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, is confident that his team will do well.

The team, according to the coach, will travel to India the following week to begin getting ready for the World Cup finals.

Olowookere, who has been in camp in Abuja since August 30, claims that the Flamingos have been practicing hard ahead of the competition..

Nigeria will play in Group B against Germany, Chile, and New Zealand.

The World Cup was not held in the year 2020 due to the Coronavirus epidemic that disrupted global sports competitions and other events.
