Onitsha, Nnewi Business Owners Shut Down For Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial

Protesters believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has blocked strategic roads in Onitsha and Nnewi , Anambra state in protest against the trial of Nnamdi Kanu in Abuja.

It was gathered that IPOB had on Sunday evening sent out signals asking its members to enforce a sit-at-home protest in the south-east because of Kanu’s case in Abuja today.

In Awka, protesters said they got the signal to observe a sit-at-home protest very late, so they could not mobilize protest in Awka.

Residents, visitors and business owners in Onitsha and Nnewi could not attend to their businesses because of the road blocks, shops and markets are under lock while the streets are empty, bonfires are made in most streets, motorists are ordered to turn back.

In Nnewi, it was gathered, that the protesters were reportedly attacking vehicles that attempted to enter into the town.
